Ghazal Of The Ineluctable Idol

Dennis Mahagin

On the websites of AOL, and TMZ,
The Font of Choice is Times New Roman.

At Coliseums, and many Malls of America, CNN sees
Camera-ass-latticework: The Hundred-Thumbed Roman.

We perceive ourselves, through lens of Paparazzi.
Tabloids save back lists, depraved Bildungsromans:

Post-pubescent Facebook fests fade, to Reality T.V.
Porn hacks with dolly, enacting Polanski, sans Roman.

Centurions play Ponzi — seedless grapes, derivative orgies
— while emaciated Christians polish the I-Phones of Romans.
